Wietse van Dijk, PhD, is research scientist at the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) at the department of Sustainable Productivity & Employability. Wietse has master’s degrees in both Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Biomechanical Engineering and Industrial Design Engineering with a specialization in Emerging Technology Design from the University of Twente. In 2015 he finished his graduate research at the Delft University of Technology. The researched focused on walking support with exoskeletons. This research resulted in different exoskeleton prototypes and multiple peer-reviewed journal papers. During his PhD research he received the best student paper award of the 12th International Congress on Rehabilitation Robotics and a travel award for the OpenSim Advanced User Workshop August 2014. After his graduation he worked at Philips and since 2016 he works at TNO. At TNO Wietse works on several projects concerning physical and cognitive support at the workplace. He works on robotics, exoskeletons and (cognitive) operator support systems.
